In Leamington Spa, a man was fatally stabbed, and authorities surmise that the attack was intended.
At approximately eleven a.m. on monday, Warwickshire police received a call regarding two men who had been stabbed in Tachbrook Road. One person was declared deceased on the spot, while the other suffered severe injuries and is currently in critical condition at the hospital.
Leamington Spa resident 33-year-old man is being held on suspicion of murder. Another suspect, who was last seen approximately ten minutes away by car, was the subject of a manhunt, according to the police.
“We want to reassure the public that we are treating this as an isolated incident at this time as we believe this was a targeted attack with no ongoing risk to the wider public,” Ch Supt Ben Smith said, acknowledging that this will be concerning to the local community.
“Police are also searching for another suspect they believe is connected to this incident. The suspect was last seen in Warwick at around 11.30 a.m. on Emscote Road near the intersection with Fosberry Close. He is described as a young male Black person who may have suffered a leg injury.
The extent of the suspect’s injuries, he said, was unclear. He asked any medical professional who might have worked with the suspect to get in touch with the police.
On Monday, a large police perimeter was established at the location. According to locals, there were many short-term rental properties in the area, which was well-liked by students.
