More upset for families as HSE probe into factory fire that killed man delayed again..

Such was the ferocity of the fire that thick black smoke could be seen at Silverstone race circuit in Northamptonshire, some 30 miles away. Fire crews from across the whole of Midlands spent several days tackling, containing and eventually extinguishing the inferno.

More upset has been caused as an investigation into the cause of a devastating fire that claimed the life of a man has been delayed again. It was on August 27, 2021 when a fire tore through Leeson Polyurethanes Ltd in Leamington Spa, killing employee David Boswell, who was 52.

Numerous persons who allege they have suffered financial, emotional, or physical damages as a result of the fire are represented by attorney Claire Kirwan. An HSE probe into the fire is essential to their case.

However, Mrs. Kirwan has criticised the HSE for yet another delay and asserts that it is likely that the agency will not release its report on the events leading up to the terrible fire’s third anniversary.

Partner Claire Kirwan, who oversees Blythe Liggins’ personal injury section and is filing civil lawsuits on behalf of some of the fire victims, stated: “It may take us nearly three years to receive the much-needed answers after the fire.

The study was allegedly supposed to be finished by December 2022, but owing to additional delays, it won’t be available until May 2024 at the latest.

“It might take us nearly three years after the fire to obtain the necessary answers,” stated the partner and head of Blythe Liggins’ personal injury division. For individuals impacted by the fire, this also implies further uncertainty in the future. Even with all of the complications involved, it does appear to be taking a very long time.

There are several reasons cited for the delays, the primary one being the need for additional studies after a specialist was consulted in October of last year.

“I fully appreciate all processes must be adhered to, but it is very disappointing that we are facing yet another delay to the report’s publication,” the lawyer from Leamington stated. “Once more, I implore the HSE to act quickly on this report in order to begin providing closure for individuals who were severely impacted and are still impacted.

“This was a complex and challenging incident for HSE to investigate, working jointly with other agencies including Warwickshire Police and Fire and Rescue Service and involving a range of HSE specialist staff to help identify the root causes of the incident and assess whether health and safety standards had been breached,” an HSE spokesperson said in response to CoventryLive’s inquiry regarding the delay.

The fact that the facility was destroyed and that it took a long time to secure the area before a comprehensive inquiry could start complicated things. We will continue to keep the next of kin fully informed on the status of the case while we evaluate the investigation’s findings and potential enforcement actions.”
