Teen injured after alleged assault with weapon in Leamington Spa

A teenage boy was seriously injured after he was allegedly assaulted with a weapon.

A fight broke out outside a shopping centre before police were called to St Margaret’s Road in Leamington Spa, where the alleged assault took place, on Monday  at 13:20 .

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A 16-year-old male from Birmingham was arrested on Monday on suspicion of wounding, Warwickshire Police said.

A cordon was in place until 15:50 GMT on Tuesday, the force said.

Insp Jem Mountford thanked the public for assisting in their inquiries so far, and said: “We have made an arrest in relation to this incident, and we don’t believe there is any wider risk to the public at this time.
