Leeds Rhinos weigh up move for NRL veteran as 2025 recruitment plans take shape
Leeds Rhinos are considering a move for Canberra Raiders veteran Jordan Rapana as they piece together their recruitment plans for the 2025 season, Love Rugby League has learned.
As the next off-season approaches, Rapana is among the most well-known names available. The Canberra mainstay is eager to play for two more seasons, but he has been offered a fresh one-year contract to stay in the NRL in 2025.
That has made several Super League clubs aware of his predicament. According to a recent source from Down Under, Hull FC and Catalans Dragons are considering trades for the former Cook Islands and New Zealand international.
However, Love Rugby League can disclose that Leeds, who are hoping to expand their ranks under Brad Arthur in 2025, are also in the running for Rapana’s signature. As they head into the upcoming season, the Rhinos are in an interesting recruiting position as they look to build a squad that will be competitive under the Australian.
They do have quota space, with Rhyse Martin leaving the club and the prospect of David Fusitu’a remaining at the club seemingly more and more unlikely – though Fusitu’a was impressive during Friday night’s win against Catalans Dragons.
Although sources have told Love Rugby League that a contract is far from finalised, the Rhinos are open to discussing with Rapana executives to see whether one may be reached.
But clubs all over the world are interested in having him play for them again next year.
