The 22-year-old’s goal against Rotherham and assist in each victory over Plymouth Argyle and Swansea City has seen the player win the vote for Leeds’ best player through November.
Summerville took 45 per cent of the votes, while Georginio Rutter followed closely behind with 23 per cent. Joe Rodon (18 per cent) and Glen Kamara (13 per cent) were both nominated but the Dutch winger took the votes by storm.
The in-form forward also earned the October award, demonstrating how important he is to the team and battling for promotion back to the Premier League.
“It feels really good, it’s another boost for me to keep going, keep doing what I’m doing, scoring goals, providing assists, and playing the best game that I can for the team,” he stated on Thursday (7 December) via the Leeds United official website.
“Every day in training, recovery, and off the pitch, I strive to be the best version of myself.” On the pitch, there is just one aim, therefore I am completely concentrated, which is why I believe I am enjoying my game and achieving these goals.”
The only worry for Leeds fans is that Summerville is almost playing too well. It is understood that several clubs are interested in the young winger, looking to acquire him during the January transfer window.
His eight goals and six assists in 16 league appearances make it easy to understand why outsiders are impressed. He changes games, pushes the whole team forward, and has helped Leeds to a current third-place standing.
Summerville’s strong start to the season may have surprised some. In his previous Premier League season, he only had four goals and two assists in 28 games and 12 starts.
But we got glimpses of what he is capable of in those 28 appearances. And that is beginning to happen under Daniel Farke.
Summerville’s back-to-back Player of the Month honours are just the beginning of what could be a remarkable career at Elland Road.
