Lee Hendrie baffled by Daniel Farke decision as he goes on Sky Sports rant in Leeds United clash v Stoke City

Lee Hendrie expressed his “huge surprise” at Leeds United manager Daniel Farke’s decision to start Crysencio Summerville off the pitch against Stoke City.

Summerville was picked as a replacement at the bet365 Stadium last weekend, despite putting on an outstanding performance that helped Leeds come back from a two-goal deficit to defeat Norwich City 3-2.

Leeds found it difficult to generate anything in the opening half of Wednesday’s Championship match (October 25), which further perplexed Hendrie as to why the young Dutch player was left out.

Hendrie made the following statement while discussing the game for Sky Sports Main Event on October 25, 2008, 8:16 p.m.: “I was really, really surprised to see he was rested.”

“It will undoubtedly depend on the games being played, but when someone has the kind of impact he did, you kind of felt like he could start over.” That banker was one of mine.

Summerville did something last weekend against Norwich that no other Leeds player has done in five and a half years, which goes to show just how amazing he was.

Before Summerville did so at Carrow Road [Opta], no Leeds player had completed at least five takeaways and created five or more chances in a game since Pablo Hernandez against Sunderland in April 2018.

That was a continuation of Summerville’s recent excellent play, as he had already scored three goals and provided an assist in his previous three games, two of which were against Norwich.

Summerville was undoubtedly the player who had the most unstoppable streak of play. However, Farke started Joel Piroe on the right, Wilfried Gnonto on the left, and Jaidon Anthony on the left against Stoke.

But Farke made the decision, and he will undoubtedly have his reasons, the most important of which being fitness. Leeds has a deep team, therefore it will be up to those ranked behind Summerville to step up when necessary.

However, Leeds might be depending more on Summerville than Farke would like to admit based on the first half in Staffordshire.
