The Whites will definitely prioritise back-four signings before the end of the transfer window, with both full-back positions and, if Charlie Cresswell exits, central defence in need of bolstering.
However, in terms of attacking players, Daniel Farke may be missing a left-footed right-winger in his roster, as all four of Leeds’ wide men are right-footed.
Leeds have been linked with a deal for Bournemouth’s David Brooks, but the Cherries are unsure whether they want to let him go. Now there is another name to add to the list.
According to the Daily Mirror’s print edition (Thursday, January 18, p56), Leeds are among the clubs interested in Manchester United’s Amad Diallo, along with Sunderland, Middlesbrough, and Southampton.
Leeds deal for Diallo difficult
Leeds were interested in signing Diallo in the summer, but he remained at Old Trafford after suffering a knee injury in pre-season that sidelined him until December.
This month, however, it is looking like an exceedingly difficult deal to execute. Fabrizio Romano reports that Diallo has had a direct chat with Erik ten Hag regarding staying at the clu.
He also stated that Diallo, who shined at Sunderland last season with 14 goals and three assists, has no plans to depart on loan to the Championship again. Diallo is also keen to’respect’ the club where he spent last year, so if he becomes available, the Black Cats are likely to be his first choice.
It would not be surprising if the £37 million signing from Atalanta in the summer of 2021 plays a vital role at Manchester United in the second half of the season.
First-choice right-winger Antony is having a terrible season with 0 goals or assists as of yet, thus Diallo could be given the opportunity to build a claim for a regular spot.
