As Victor Orta attempted to address our left-back issues back in June 2021, Javi Galan allegedly packed his bags in preparation for a transfer to Leeds United. Currently, the Spaniard is fighting to start for Atletico Madrid.
Galan, 28, is becoming known as one of La Liga football’s most reliable left-backs. He really relocated from Huesca to Celta Vigo during the summer of 2021. He had two years of impressive work at Celta.
However, Mundo Deportivo stated a month before to moving to Celta that, following discussions with Victor Orta, he had “packed his bags” in preparation for a move to Leeds. However, the move never happened, and he ended up joining Celta.
Galan spent two years playing 79 times for Celta and contributed to e
ight goals; as a result, he was invited to try his luck at Atletico Madrid in the summer under Diego Simeone. He has come and gone from the side.
Regretfully for Galan, Atletico now has Samuel Lino and Cesar Azpilicueta on their left wing as well. With Simeone, he has made five appearances; his lone start was during a 3-0 loss against Valencia.
Javi Galan, who is currently at Atletico Madrid, came close to joining Leeds in 2021. However, Galan will undoubtedly have his opportunity on the left wing eventually, and considering his performance in La Liga over the previous few seasons, it would be incorrect to support someone else when he takes the pitch.
Naturally, Leeds signed Junior Firpo from Barcelona after losing out on Galan. a decision that has drawn harsh criticism. In addition to having trouble with his form, Firpo has had several injuries.
