£9m midfielder who Leeds were in pole position to sign now available for loan in January move

Sasa Lukic was linked with a move to Leeds United at the start of the year and were even reportedly on pole position for the Serbian star – and now, Fulham are willing to loan out the star next month.

Lukic, 27, played a staggering 168 games for Torino in Serie A before joining Fulham for a reported £9 million in January 2023. Lukic made an impression for his nation during the World Cup in Qatar as well.

At the time, Fulham was not the only Premier League team interested. Leeds was rumoured to be in the running for Lukic and was also eager to acquire the midfield player. In the end, though, we signed Weston McKennie.

However, he has failed to make an impact at Fulham. Since his transfer, he has played just 25 games for Fulham across all competitions, starting just eight of his 23 Premier League games. It’s hard for him to get game time.

Here’s an update now. Football Transfers reports that Lukic is open to a loan move during the winter transfer window, even with questions about Joao Palhinha’s future. After all, Leeds might be permitted to have their man.

Sasa Lukic, a midfield player wanted by Leeds, is currently available on loan.
Does Leeds require him? In the middle of the park, however, are Glen Kamara, Ethan Ampadu, and Ilia Gruev, who play for the Whites. Archie Grey as well. However, under manager Daniel Farke, he has been playing on the right side of defence.

Although Lukic excels at holding midfield, his vision and technical skill set make him a deep-lying playmaker, and Leeds could use more attack in their midfield. That might be precisely what we require in the midst.

However, it will be preferred to sign a left-back and a number-10 in January, with loans probably being the norm. Naturally, that is, unless someone makes a very expensive move for one of our most valuable assets.
