Leeds United loanee with £1.5m exit option scores again as new team record sixth straight win

Days after Leeds’ remarkable comeback in Norfolk, Middlesbrough defeated Norwich City at Carrow Road in stoppage time at the conclusion of the second half, winning 2-1. Michael Carrick’s team started with United loanee Greenwood in the starting lineup, and he scored the game’s first goal just after the break, sixty seconds after play resumed.

Greenwood scored his first Championship goal against his boyhood club, Sunderland, and this one came after joining Boro on a season-long loan. The Riverside Stadium team has won all four of the games in which the 21-year-old has started, giving him maximum points. The last time Carrick’s team lost was in a 1-1 tie against Sheffield Wednesday on September 19.

“I thought we played really well and persevered.” It was difficult at times; clearly, we are aware that this is a difficult location to visit,” Greenwood said full-time to Boro’s official website.

“I’m ecstatic about the goal.” He said, “I’d want to dedicate it to my grandfather; he’s now in the hospital and is pretty unwell.

option in Greenwood’s loan agreement. Since joining Leeds as a teenager in 2020, the former Arsenal player has had difficulty securing a spot in the first squad. Willy Gnonto, Patrick Bamford, Crysencio Summerville, Joel Piroe, Georginio Rutter, and other offensive alternatives for Leeds helped to make the decision to loan Greenwood to the Whites’ Championship opponents, where he would have a greater chance of playing regularly.

After losing all seven of their league games this season, Boro advanced to seventh place with their sixth straight victory.
