Leeds United Ready to welcome two players back to squad in New Year’

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has issued a fresh injury update for his Whites squad ahead of their top-of-the-table clash with Ipswich Town this weekend.

Leeds has lost its previous two games, but thanks to Norwich City’s 2-2 draw against their East Anglian rivals last week, the Tractor Boys were able to avoid dropping farther behind Ipswich in the standings. After Sunderland’s midweek loss in the northeast, United was left upset by a 1-1 result against Coventry City at Elland Road.

This season, injuries have not had a major impact on Farke’s Leeds team, even with the tough Championship schedule. The bulk of Farke’s first-choice choices have been available to him throughout the season, with the exception of players like Stuart Dallas, Junior Firpo, and Djed Spence who have missed extended amounts of time due to injury.

After spending the last two weeks with the Colombian national team, Ian Poveda has returned to the group at Thorp Arch. Jamie Shackleton and Sam Byram, on the other hand, have missed the last few games due to hamstring and glute injuries, respectively.

Firpo and Poveda are back in the running for the match against Ipswich, Farke said this week: “Ian returned with a smile on his face, lots of confidence, and was also pretty impressive during the training week.

“He and Junior Firpo both have a strong chance of rejoining the team. We still have two days left to give everyone a chance to shine in training. The Leeds manager stated, “They are both available. Farke also said that Dallas would only be participating in light training and rehabilitation activities until the New Year, when Byram and Shackleton will return to action on matchdays. None of the three have yet to resume complete team training.
