Abdul Fatawu expected to join Leicester City on long-term deal
The 19-year-old winger initially signed for the Foxes in the summer, joining from Sporting CP on a loan deal, although it would become permanent should Leicester win promotion.
Though there is still work to be done on that front, everything appears to be in position for Fatawu’s signing, with Enzo Maresca’s team playing their closest rivals Leeds United on Friday night.
With three goals and nine assists in the league this season, the teenager has established himself as a key player under Maresca because to his quickness and straightforward demeanour.
Carlton Palmer: Fantastic deal for Leicester
The Foxes are eager to extend Fatawu’s stay, which is maybe not surprising given his performance, and rumours this week indicated that everything was set up for the transfer to become a permanent one.
Pundit Palmer also gave an explanation of why, in an interview with FLW, he thinks this is a great arrangement for the East Midlands team, both now and in the future.
Palmer stated: “With three goals and nine assists in the Championship this season under Enzo Maresca, he has performed admirably.” He was the centre of attention, but now it’s just a matter of completing the paperwork, which will happen at the end of the season.
“In my opinion, this is an excellent business deal; he has performed admirably for Leicester.” Given his youth, it was critical that the Foxes complete this transaction. It’s critical to sign and nurture young athletes. For Leicester City and Fatawu, this is wonderful news.
Since Fatawu had very little first-team experience, many supporters weren’t sure what to expect from him when he joined. However, given the obligation to buy, which is estimated to be worth €17 million, this is a significant amount, indicating that he was a talented player.
For the Foxes’ benefit, Fatawu has lived up to expectations this season. Although he still has to work on a few aspects, he is a player who can make a significant impact on the game.
Even though he still has room to improve, Maresca’s coaching has enabled him to add a finished product to his game. His pace and dribbling make him a continuous threat.
Nevertheless, given his age, he is a player with a lot of potential, and Leicester will be interested to watch how he grows and adjusts to the Premier League, should they advance.
But from now on, Fatawu and his colleagues’ only goal will be to be promoted, and they are aware that a victory at Elland Road would put them in a great position to accomplish so.
