Moylan is being linked with an early Leigh exit.
Adrian Lam insists Matt Moylan will be the one to decide whether he calls time on his career at the end of the season following reports that he is set to retire. News emerged from Australia claiming that the Leigh Leopards star is expected to call time on his career at the end of the season.
Moylan put that to one side as he produced a superb display in Leigh’s play-off victory over Salford Red Devils as the Leopards moved to within one victory of Old Trafford. The former NRL star produced a number of big plays to help Lam’s side secure victory.
Moylan dodged interviews following the game but Lam addressed the speculation, insisting there hadn’t been much dialogue between the club and the player.
“I think that’ll be on Matt,” Lam said. “His call. There’s not been much conversations about it. Matt is enjoying his rugby at the moment and if he plays like that then we don’t want him to go anywhere. That’s something out of my control at the moment.”
If Moylan does depart, it will free up another quota spot for Leigh to use next year, one that they would almost certainly use on a halfback. The Leopards have already confirmed a deal for David Armstrong and are understood to have signed Isaac Liu and Ben Condon.
For now, Moylan’s focus will be on the play-off semi-finals, with Leigh set to take on either Wigan Warriors or Hull KR.
