The 35 clubs across Super League, the Championship and League 1 are all in the running to be involved, with solely on-field performance affecting the rankings (we’re not IMG!).
Our latest top 10 of the campaign is below, with all competitive games to this point taken into account.
For Super League clubs, that’s their performances across all 27 ‘regular’ rounds and the Challenge Cup.
Meanwhile, the Championship season got underway in March, and 25 rounds have been played out to date.
In League 1, the regular season ended earlier this month, and the play-offs have now begun.
Before their league seasons started, clubs in the bottom two divisions had previously participated in matches in the 1895 Cup and Challenge Cup.
It should be made clear that you are no longer eligible to be included in our Power Rankings once your campaign has ended.
For instance, Oldham, the League 1 winners, should be in our top 10, but they aren’t because their season is over.
Super League teams that played their season-ending game this week were taken into consideration; but, starting next week, they will no longer be eligible for a spot.
Similarly, everyone involved in the League 1 play-offs over the weekend just gone are in contention, but the club knocked out – Midlands Hurricanes – won’t be in contention this time next week.
In what will undoubtedly be their last appearance of the year, Midlands, who were mentioned in the opening to this week’s rankings, grab 10th place. The Hurricanes may look back on a season that ended with three victories in five games with pride, but their campaign is now gone after losing 18-14 against Hunslet on Sunday afternoon in the play-off eliminator.
