Following their thrilling victory over the Catalan Dragons at home, Adrian Lam, the manager of Leigh Leopards, has given a thorough injury report. Dan Norman’s unsuccessful HIA is the most recent setback.
After over two months out due to a calf tear sustained in Round 3 at St Helens, Lam and company welcomed back John Asiata on an otherwise happy night at the Leigh Sports Village, which culminated in a 30-2 Leopards victory.
The captain, who played for about 20 minutes at the end of the Round 9 match, is the first of many important players that Leigh hopes to have available again in the coming weeks.
But their list of injuries is still lengthy, and tonight prop Norman became a new member of the list.
After Catalans Dragons’ victory, Leigh Leopards’ coach provides an injury report, citing a new blow to Ireland international Dan Norman. Norman, who was born in Warrington, was substituted off for a head injury at the close of the first half after emerging from a rough scramble for the ball on the ground.
After the halftime break, the 26-year-old’s opinion was verified by the PA system.
He said: “John (Asiata) played a part tonight, albeit only 20 minutes I think, but there was a plan around that and he’s come off good. “Edwin Ipape’s probably (back) next week or the week after, and then you’re looking at Gaz O’Brien probably two or three weeks after that. (Robbie) Mulhern probably next week or the week after too. “It seems like ages ago that they were injured and we found out we were going to be without them, but it’s come around so quickly. Having said that, we are into Round 10 next week.
“I’m not sure what happened to Norman exactly. I’ve given it a good look, but I can’t see a vision of what transpires.
“He makes a mistake in the tackle and sustains a concussion as a result; he will miss the game the following week.” That’s alright, we’ll get over that soon, but I believe he has made a head-on (contact).
Adrian Lam, the Leopards’ manager, provides an update on Darnell McIntosh’s fitness.
The Leopards’ roster did not include Darnell McIntosh when the team news was revealed prior to their game against the Dragons on Friday night.
Tom Briscoe left the team a few days earlier as part of a permanent swap transaction that brought the new addition from Hull FC.
