Leyton boss reveals position over renewing interest in Liverpool hope;:

This is the most recent issue involving Pompey’s interest in the Liverpool starlet.

Harvey Blair of Liverpool is a player Pompey has said they are unlikely to pursue again in the January transfer window.

As the Blues attempt to bolster their squad for their Championship drive, The News understands that the young winger was mooted as a potential loan transfer option for the upcoming season.

However, at this point, a move for the 20-year-old sensation who was given considerable consideration last summer won’t be pursued.

With winter transfer activity starting in two and a half weeks, Pompey will consider making a big acquisition, but manager John Mousinho is cautious about off-balancing his team in that area.

According to reports that circulated yesterday, League One, Danish, and Belgian teams are interested in Blair, and he may be permitted to leave Anfield in January. Pompey is not one of them, though, as the gifted player from Huddersfield makes his comeback from a five-month absence due to a meniscus rupture in his knee.

“It’s not one which is on our radar,” Mousinho declared. Although he has been touted for a few years in recruitment circles, we are not currently considering him.

Good players would never be turned down for no reason, but we must ensure that the roster is balanced and that positions are not overinflated. We’ll always keep an eye on these things, and as a player, that’s great, but for now, we’re not looking at how they would fit into our recruitment strategy or where we want to go.

After having few options for that position for the majority of the season, Pompey is reportedly placing wingers high on his priority list for the January transfer window. The cover appears more optimistic now that Josh Martin has committed to a contract until the end of the year and Anthony Scully has returned to the fight.

“It (purchasing a winger) is a consideration but where we stand at the moment, and things can change really quickly,” Mousinho continued. “As it stands, we have five fit wide players.”

We have Josh Martin, Abu Kamara, Gavin Whyte, and Paddy Lane in the building, and not everyone has seen Anthony Scully. We’ve had two available at different times, so that picture has altered dramatically.

It’s interesting to balance the squad in that area because we have a youthful loan in Abu too. All we need to do is get that correct. While it goes without saying that we want talented players to join the building, we also need to make the most of what we already have.
