Leicester consider Arsenal raid on a free agent’

No one questions the belief that Leicester will return to the Premier League next season, even though they have had some bad luck in their previous league matches against Middlesbrough and Leeds. Plans for transfers have already been made.

Leicester’s most recent FA Cup victory over Bournemouth gave them more confidence. Hopefully, QPR will receive the support we all deserve since we cannot afford any mistakes this weekend because we have a new match against Sunderland on Tuesday.

There has been talk of new players already, and several names have been floated. Eddie Nketiah is a possible near target, Jorginho, an Arsenal free agency, is another, and Emile Smith-Rowe is a third Gunner candidate.

They are all guys who may be seeking a fresh challenge and, naturally, more playing time on the first team. The contract for Jorginho, 32, expires in the summer. His qualities and experience would be great assets to consider in the process of finding a new player.

Currently ranked lower at Arsenal, Eddie Nketiah (24) showed promise when on loan at Leeds, where Marcelo Bielsa called him “the complete player.” He might thrive in a Leicester club, taking over as the starting forward in place of Jamie Vardy should he decide to stand down or move on, but he won’t be the player to start every game the next season. Nketiah will cost around £20 million because his contract with Arsenal expires in the summer of 2027.

Emile Smith-Rowe (23) is another Arsenal player a bit on the fringe, but still one of the best in his position and also having ability to rotate in other positions, being seen as a central offensive midfielder or a player out wide up front in a 4-3-3 set up.

Leicester will be eager to off load players such as Bouba Soumare and Victor Kristiansen, possibly Harry Souttar and even consider a sale of Patson Daka, as those four would finance a move for all three Arsenal stars. Other players to considered sold would be goalkeepers Danny Ward and Daniel Iversen as well as left back Luke Thomas. A major offer on Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could see him in a shopping window as well, with more transfer activity surely in place for replacements.
