Lincoln City transfer targets revealed as club promises to go all out for them

Lincoln City‘s potential summer transfer targets have been revealed by sources close to The Deck.

It highlights six positions that the Imps are looking to add new names to their squad in.

Michael Skubala‘s men finished the season narrowly outside of the play-off places, losing out on a spot on the final day after defeat to SkyBet League One champions Portsmouth.

What Positions are Lincoln City Targeting?

The Deck‘s sources have revealed that the Imps are looking to sign two centre-halves during the summer transfer window, one on the left-hand side and the other on the right. The club are searching for centre-backs that are both quick and strong in the air.

In midfield, the club is looking to acquire a “mobile, physical” defensive midfield, who can play with the ball at his feet. They are also seeking to sign an energetic central midfielder and creative attacking-minded midfielder.

Also, Lincoln City have a quick striker, who can get in behind and finish well, on their summer transfer wish list.

Narrowly Missed Out on the Play-Offs?

After a torrid run either side of Christmas, Skubala, who took over from new Swindon Town head coach Mark Kennedy, reignited his Lincoln side. Off the back of New Year’s Day defeat at Blackpool, the Imps embarked on a 16 game unbeaten run that put them in-touch with the play-off places.

Defeats to Wigan Athletic and Portsmouth proved enough to deny Lincoln City a spot in the top six, as eventual winners Oxford United pipped them to the post. However, their run after the turn of the year was a spectacular one regardless.

Targets Would Replacing Departing Names – Opinion:

The transfer targets revealed by sources make sense in the context of May’s retained list. Striker, and seasonal top goalscorer, Joe Taylor (Luton Town), centre-back Alex Mitchell (Millwall) and midfielder Conor McGrandles (Charlton Athletic) were among those who left Lincoln City at the end of their respective loan spells.

Defender TJ Eyoma was one of two players, alongside Hakeeb Adelakun, that were released by the League One outfit.

The proposed positions line up with those who returned to their parent clubs and the departing ex-Tottenham Hotspur youngster.

The other potentially interesting note is in the midfield ranks. Irishman Danny Mandroiu and former Ipswich Town midfielder Ted Bishop are having conversations with the club now that their deals have expired. Imps fans will wait for news on these talks as the summer window edges ever closer.
