Sheffield United’s January loan addition of Tyler Morton, a midfielder for Liverpool, may make the difference in their fight for automatic promotion, according to pundit Carlton Palmer.
After an outstanding first half of the season, Sheffield United is presently tied for second place in the Championship standings with Leeds United.
New owners Steve Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy are anticipated to support manager Chris Wilder throughout the January transfer window, which was another encouraging development for the Blades last week when their long-awaited takeover by US-based group COH Sports was finally finalised.
As FLW exclusively disclosed last week, United is intensifying their pursuit of Morton. Wilder will now have more money to spend as he attempts to enhance his squad, but he is also reportedly eager to fill his two remaining loan positions.
Although several teams were rumoured to be interested in signing the 22-year-old in the summer, Morton stayed at Anfield, with his reported £20 million price tag probably acting as a roadblock. Morton has spent the last two seasons on loan in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers and Hull City.
However, Morton has made just three appearances for Arne Slot’s side this season, with all of those coming in the EFL Cup, and he could be set to make a temporary move to Bramall Lane next month.
