Sofyan Amrabat gave some reasons why He preferred Man U to Liverpool

Liverpool reportedly came close to signing Sofyan Amrabat this summer, but the deal fell through due to a delay.

The Moroccan international was ‘hours away’ from joining the Reds, according to the Daily Mail, but Liverpool ended their negotiations with Amrabat due to a problem.

The 27-year-old midfielder eventually agreed to a loan deal with Manchester United on the final day of the transfer window, and Liverpool successfully completed a deal to bring Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich to Anfield.

With Gravenberch looking impressive already in his Liverpool career, the Reds might have made the right call in pulling out for Amrabat, who is six years older than the Dutch midfielder.

Moreover, the on-loan ACF Fiorentina star arrived in the Premier League njured, with Amrabat only making his United debut this weekend against Burnley. Indeed, the midfielder might have been an ideal signing for Liverpool had they not landed on Wataru Endo, but with Gravenberch looking promising, snubbing Amrabat could prove to be a good move.

Amrabat had a 2022 to remember after starring for Morocco at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and for Liverpool, they will hope the midfielder fails to live up to expectations in Manchester.

The Reds no doubt made the right call in choosing to move for Gravenberch as their final midfield signing, with the youngster an exceptional talent who could become world-class in years to come.

And with Amrabat heading to Liverpool’s biggest Premier League rivals, the Reds will hope that the 27-year-old fails to hit the heights many expect from the midfielder at Old Trafford.
