Angels Outright Recently-Signed Pitcher, Make New Signing Official

On Saturday, the Angels officially announced the signing of RHP Zach Plesac. The deal is for one year and $1 million.

To make room on the 40-man roster, the Angels outrighted LHP Adam Kolarek.

The left-handed pitcher will go to the Halos’ Triple-A affiliate, the Salt Lake Bees. The southpaw signed with the Angels in November on a $900 thousand guaranteed deal, but as a result of this signing, will now make his way to the minor leagues. As a minor leaguer last season, Kolarek logged a 3.80 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP in 42.2 innings pitched.

Plesac is joining the Angels after struggling during the 2023 season. He posted a 7.59 ERA through five starts in 2023, and was optioned to the team’s Triple-A team, the Columbus Clippers, in May. He spent the rest of the season in the minors and elected free agency on Oct. 13

The 28-year-old will try to find his groove in Orange County, and get his career back on track.

Angels general manager Perry Minasian said on Saturday that Plesac could help the team both as a starter and reliever.
