Angels Starting Pitching Offseason Target Reportedly Taken Trade Market’

With the Los Angeles Angels’ quest to add starting pitching help this offseason, the team did their due diligence on multiple top-tier names. One of those names was former All-Star right-hander Alek Manoah of the Toronto Blue Jays.

They checked in with Toronto about Manoah, but no deal ever came close to happening.

And according to MLB.com’s Jon Morosi, Monoah is being taken off the trade block.

Manoah would have made a lot of sense for the Halos this season, giving them a solid starter at the top of the rotation. He is primed for a bounce-back year this season after struggling with the Blue Jays in 2023.

He posted an ERA of 5.87 over 19 starts and even spent time in the minor leagues, as well. However, the Blue Jays are hoping for him to regain his form from his 2022 season.

Manoah made his only All-Star game appearance in 2022, posting an ERA of 2.24 over 31 starts. He finished third in the American League Cy Young race that season.

The Halos checked in since they saw Manoah had the talent. If he can go back to his old form, he is a great asset as he is also signed through the 2027 season.

Should he face difficulties this season, perhaps Toronto will reconsider the possibility of transferring him. At that point, the Angels might try to sign him and add him to their roster.

To solve their pitching staff problems, though, the Halos will have to turn elsewhere for the time being. In an effort to produce a competitive roster, the front management has been actively looking for assistance.
