Angels View Specific Position on Roster For 2024….

Shohei Ohtani is a two-way superstar, and the Los Angeles Angels wanted to keep him around going into the offseason. Since his arrival, he has served as the team’s designated hitter, however the Halos were unable to retain him.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will be receiving Ohtani, thus the team will require a new designated hitter. It appears that there is a reason why they have left the position available.

The Angels see Mike Trout, an outfielder, and Anthony Rendon, a third baseman, using the designated hitter position as a “safety net,” said Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

Taking Trout and Rendon off the field while keeping them in the lineup might be very beneficial to the team because they have both struggled with injuries in recent seasons. It might contribute to both players’ continued health, which should lead to more success on the pitch.

Rendon and Trout might be used as the Angels’ alternate designated hitters this season, which wouldn’t be a bad idea. In the worst case scenario, they could test it and see how it works in 2024.
