The truth is, finding a bat to replace 44 home runs, 95 RBI, and an OPS+ of 184 just isn’t accomplishable. There is no one on the open market who can supply production similar to the reigning AL MVP.
What about as a pitcher? Ohtani led a staff that ranked 12th in the AL in ERA, and even though he won’t be available to pitch in 2024 due to shoulder surgery, surely the Angels must have a plan to replace the 3.14 ERA Ohtani held opponents to, right?

One of the top remaining free agents is 2022 NL Cy Young winner Blake Snell, who had an ERA of just 2.25 pitching for the San Diego Padres last season.
