Following a two-car collision in Louth on this afternoon, a man in his 60s passed away.
Gardaí were called to a car crash on the R166 near Annagassan in Dunleer at approximately 2.50pm.
The driver of the first car, a man aged in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
He is the 103rd person to be killed on Irish roads so far in 2024.
His body has been removed from the scene to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.
The driver of the second car, a female in her 40s, was airlifted from the scene to the Mater Hospital, where she is receiving treatment for serious injuries.
The road remains closed at this time, with local diversions in place. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. A statement said: “Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time of the collision are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
