Following Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest, Luton attacker Elijah Adebayo became the target of further racist comments on the internet.
After serving as a substitute after 72 minutes at the City Ground, the 25-year-old scored his second goal of the year in stoppage time, helping the Hatters rally from a 2-0 deficit to salvage a point.
Just seconds after the match, Adebayo, who had also wasted an opportunity in the 1-0 loss to Spurs before to the international break, was subjected to some abhorrent internet abuse for the second time in a row.
Before the game, manager Rob Edwards called the abuse “disgraceful” and “deplorable,” and the club has once again reported the most recent incident.
“The Premier League has received a report of online abuse directed towards Luton’s Elijah Adebayo,” the league stated in a statement.
“We’ve given Elijah and the Club our whole support.
“We’ll collaborate with all pertinent authorities to make sure the offending party suffers the harshest penalties available.
Racism has no place in society or in our game.
“Please report any abuse that you witness or hear.”
