Rest in Peace Billy Kellock

Billy Kellock, Rest in Peace

7th February 1954 – 20th March 2024

Kenilworth Road has learned of Billy Kellock’s passing. David Pleat signed Kellock to strengthen the Town’s midfield as they advanced to the top division in 1982.
Billy was born in Glasgow, didn’t make the cut at Aston Villa, and transferred to Cardiff in 1972. At the age of 18, he made his League debut with the Bluebirds.

He had brief stints at Millwall and Norwich before quitting the league to play for Kettering Town.

Billy reached his full potential as an aggressive goalscoring midfielder in Kettering, and he was even more impressive at Peterborough, where he scored 43 goals in 134 League matches.

Just before the Hatters were set to enter the premier league, in July 1982, David Pleat paid £30,000 for the talented Billy. However, his time in the league was brief; he made just nine starts and scored two goals before leaving for Wolves in March of the following year.

He played for Southend, Port Vale, Halifax, and Wolves before returning to Kettering to manage a country club. He then dropped back down the divisions.

We send our sympathies to his friends and family.
