Two teenagers found guilty of murder in Luton

Following a double stabbing that resulted in a man’s death and a lady being hospitalised, two teens were found guilty of murder.

The 17-year-old lads, who are not allowed to be identified for legal reasons, were found guilty at Guildford Crown Court today (Thursday) of killing Omar Khan, 38, after he was fatally stabbed in September of last year.

Emergency services were dispatched to Tenth Avenue in the Sundon Park neighbourhood of Luton on the day of the event shortly before two in the morning due to reports of two individuals who had suffered severe knife wounds.

An hour later, Mr. Khan was declared dead at the scene.

He had been fatally stabbed in the belly, and a post-mortem examination had shown that he had also suffered injuries to his arm and back from knives.

After being brought to the hospital, the survivor had surgery to treat injuries that would change their life.

The woman and Mr. Khan went to Sundon Park Parade to meet the teens, as the court was informed during the trial. The two boys were observed fleeing the site a short while later.

Detectives from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Major incident Unit were able to connect the lads to the incident after opening a murder inquiry thanks to phone, forensic, and CCTV evidence.

Additionally, it was determined that both boys had caused grievous bodily harm (GBH).

Before the trial started, one of them entered a guilty plea to carrying an offensive weapon in a public place. Both of them acknowledged their concerns about the availability of Class A medications, and one of them acknowledged their concerns about the supply of Class B drugs.

They are due to be sentenced in May.

The investigation’s lead detective, Major Crime Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins, stated: “It is extremely tragic that a man died violently and that two teenagers are now being held for life for his murder.”

“Choosing to carry a knife is a decision that could have disastrous and permanent effects, affecting not just the people who use it directly but also their friends, family, and the community at large.

“We will continue to employ every resource at our disposal to capture individuals who threaten public safety with blades. As we continue to exhort young people to “Just Drop It,” I genuinely hope that this conviction will serve as a wake-up call to others considering carrying a firearm.
