Brother and sister duo jailed for string of Dunstable targeting 18 properties’

The police said they took advantage of vulnerable homes and stole cars, coats and bank cards

A brother and sister team from Dunstable were sentenced to prison after going on a two-week burglary spree and breaking into 18 residences.

Jesse and Sarah-Jane Loveridge were identified as the perpetrators of the string of burglaries and attempted burglaries that occurred in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire in May of last year, according to a cross-border investigation conducted by Bedfordshire Police.

During the early morning break-ins in Dunstable and Hemel Hempstead, the pair stole cars, coats and bank cards from their victims. The siblings were caught after detectives identified them through CCTV and doorbell footage, despite wearing face masks to conceal their faces.

Both Sarah-Jane Loveridge, 50, of Beech Green, Dunstable, and Jesse Loveridge, 45, of High Street North, Dunstable, entered guilty pleas to conspiracy to commit burglary. On Wednesday, January 31, they appeared at Luton Crown Court, where they were all given sentences of five years and three months in prison.

“Jesse and Sarah-Jane Loveridge targeted properties during the early hours of the morning, taking advantage of vulnerable homes while occupants were likely to be asleep,” stated Detective Constable Jason Wheeler, who oversaw the investigation.

They have demonstrated an egregious disregard for the welfare of people who are directly harmed by their illegal activity.
“Victims of burglary suffer a great deal, so we will continue to work with other agencies as needed to address this problem and hold those who commit it accountable.”
