Luton Town fear big injury set-back ahead of Aston Villa clash

Latest Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive as Rob Edwards could be without defender for Villa Park clash

Luton Town boss Rob Edwards revealed he is unsure about the extent to Reece Burke’s injury ahead of facing Aston Villa on Sunday (2pm).

Villa will return to home action for a second consecutive time following the 4-1 victory over West Ham on Sunday. Before Unai Emery’s focus turns to Luton however, they will compete in Europe against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday (5:45pm).

Reece Burke of Luton Town in action with Richarlison of Tottenham Hotspur during the Premier League match between Luton Town and Tottenham Hotspur at Kenilworth Road on October 7, 2023 in Luton, United Kingdom.

Luton meanwhile, claimed a vital point at Nottingham Forest last weekend. But it wasn’t all good news for Edwards however, as Burke was forced off with injury and was replaced by Issa Kabore after limping off in the 55th minute.

Asked about Burke, Edwards said: “We’ll have to look at it, it’s too early to tell. He stamped down to back heel the ball and tackle, when you’re running at speed it can just flare a few things up, knee joints, hamstrings, whatever.

“So we’ll have to assess it and see what he’s done.”
