A court heard that a guy who killed a sex worker and then burned and dumped her body in a layby “had been having dark and disturbing thoughts about killing and death.”
Robert Brown, 38, appeared at work three days after the suspected murder, “probably with the victim’s body in the box in his car,” according to testimony given to the jury.
In November of last year, Brown, a frequent client, picked up 41-year-old Victoria Greenwood from the Luton town centre.
Brown is said to have brought Ms. Greenwood back to his apartment on Hitchin Road. At 1.53 in the morning, she was observed attempting to leave the apartment while wearing only a robe.
The Hitchin Roads rental apartment’s rear-mounted CCTV captured a nude Brown grabbing and dragging the woman.
The attack’s specifics were described by prosecutor John Lloyd-Jones KC, who stated, “The defendant was clearly attacking her – he was standing over her.”
She was lying on her front, flat on the ground. Grasping her face with one hand and her hair with the other, he dragged her. He pulled her back onto the land. She is obviously attempting to resist.
According to Mr. Lloyd-Jones, Ms. Greenwood vanished from sight. “He packed Victoria Greenwood’s body into a wooden furniture unit and put it into his car in order to cover up what he had done,” he continued.
Per the prosecutor, Brown took a car to Wallington, which is located in Hertfordshire to the east of Letchworth. “He then removed her body from the car, doused it in petrol and lit it on fire,” he alleged. He did it with the intention of hiding what he had done to her and destroying any proof.
The jury at Luton Crown Court was informed that there was proof Brown had been experiencing “dark and disturbing thoughts about killing and death” in the time leading up to the murder.
Additionally, Ms. Greenwood’s close acquaintance received communications from Brown. “Ever wanted to kill a person?” he asked her a week prior to the murder.
