Man dead and woman arrested after ‘tragic’ crash in Luton

Following an accident in Stopsley Way, Luton, last Sunday, August 18, a motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries. As a result, Bedfordshire Police have issued an appeal for witnesses.

Officers were notified shortly after 9 a.m. of a traffic incident on the A505 intersection of Stopsley Way and Hitchin Road involving a black Toyota Auris and a grey Yamaha YZF R1. The motorbike rider, a man in his 40s, was declared dead at the site and emergency services were called.

A thirty-something woman was taken into custody at the scene on suspicion of multiple offences, including driving recklessly and causing death while uninsured. Since then, she has been granted a conditional bail.

From the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, Detective Sergeant Ben Heath stated: “This is a tragic incident in which a man has lost his life, our thoughts remain with the victim’s loved ones.” We want to find out what caused this collision, so we’re urging anyone who saw it to come forward and help with our investigation.We would especially like to speak with anyone who may have used their dashcam to record the incident or the circumstances leading up to it.”
