After fatally stabbing a man outside a Maidstone pub, a lady was found guilty of murder.
Matthew Bryant, 52, was slain by Stephanie Langley on Monday, September 11, 2023, at approximately 6 p.m., after an unprovoked attack.
20 minutes before to the deadly attack, Langley had driven to the Hare and Hounds public house and got into a fight with Mr. Bryant, according to evidence presented at Maidstone Crown Court.
After removing a sizable kitchen knife from her vehicle at Maidstone East train station, Langley drove back to the site.
The 54-year-old admitted to having an offensive weapon in his possession but denied killing Mr. Bryant. On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, she was found guilty of the murder at Maidstone Crown Court after a trial.
Langley is still being held under remand, and on May 7, the same court will hold Langley’s sentencing.
Detective Constable Hannah Crittenden of the Serious Crime Directorate for Kent and Essex stated:
Matthew Bryant was a devoted husband and well-liked landlord, and a cunning criminal killed him in cold blood.
Langley attacked her victim violently and without cause in broad daylight in front of shocked customers, paying no attention to the repercussions.
“As the investigating officer, I would like to officially express my gratitude to everyone who witnessed this tragic incident and showed the bravery to assist us in our investigation.”
