Man City ‘leading £50m bid’star Liverpool and Chelsea in battle’

Man City are keeping their eyes firmly peeled ahead of the January transfer window, and could swoop for an ex-Liverpool and Chelsea target.

Manchester City are reportedly planning a £50 million trade for Fulham’s Joao Palhinha. The midfielder has recently been linked with both Liverpool and Chelsea, but the reigning Premier League champions may now pounce.

In the summer, Palhinha drew the attention of some of Europe’s premier clubs, including Manchester United and Bayern Munich. On deadline day, the latter was on the verge of a big-money move to the German giants, but the deal fell through at the last minute.

Palhinha, on the other hand, has been linked with a Premier League move in recent weeks, with Liverpool and Chelsea among the clubs interested in his talents after continuing to excel in the top division. The Blues, however, have cooled their interest, with Mauricio Pochettino not keen on adding more players to his already bloated roster, according to the Daily Star.

Furthermore, Liverpool has put their chase of Palhinha on hold. City are apparently set to make a £50 million bid for the 28-year-old in January.

Guardiola will want to replace Kalvin Phillips, who is due to leave soon and is wanted by both Juventus and Bayern Munich, with an experienced Premier League player as City seeks a fourth consecutive title.

The Portuguese international has a contract with Fulham until June 2028, but City may be able to entice Fulham to sell with a large fee in January.

If City don’t get Palhinha, another player they could target, according to the Star, is Andre – who is also attracting interest from Fulham themselves

Andre was previously connected with Liverpool, but speculation has since died down. Man City will be looking for new players even more today, following yet another terrible Premier League outcome.

After taking a 2-0 lead over Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, City were levelled by Michael Olise’s penalty in the fifth minute of injury time. City are now three points behind leaders Liverpool, despite having played one extra game.
