Mansfield Town manager Nigel Clough believes squad consistency’

Proud Stags boss Nigel Clough believes squad consistency is the key behind his promotion-chasers’ current top three place.

Mansfield has put up some spectacular performances this season, including victories at Forest Green Rovers and Notts County away from home as well as victories against Salford and Harrogate Town.

And a happy Clough believes his team as a whole deserves credit for the record.
“We have been consistent this season and have scored goals in many of our games,” he declared.
Our track record on defence has been strong. Overall, they have been strong performances. We have done a very fantastic job as a team and squad, I don’t think we have had any standout individuals.”
The Stags team’s adaptability has also been demonstrated on several times, as some important players have filled roles they haven’t played before this campaign.

Baily Cargill, among others, has established himself as the starting left back, while Jordan Bowery, the front man, has also filled in at full back.
“Cargill has adjusted to the position quite well; with every game, he is becoming more proficient in it,” Clough remarked.

“It is beneficial when the team performs well and wins games.

“Everyone is confident, but it becomes more of a problem and issue when you are on the opposite side of the table.

“Regardless of their position on the team, everyone is content and happy to be there.”

Over the next two weeks, there will be plenty of games, and according to Clough, his team’s pursuit of promotion is currently in a crucial phase of the season.

“This time frame is important,” he declared. “We have eight games left when the next two weeks are over, and we will have a better idea of what we need to do to keep up our current position.”

This month, Clough will greet the supporters of the Stags and respond to inquiries at the Fans’ Forum.

“I believe that the supporters have appreciated our style of play and the majority of the previous three and a half years,” stated Clough.

It will be pleasant to have a conversation about the vast array of topics at the club, including the academy, and to hear their opinions.

“At the moment, the entire club is in good shape.”
