The 21-year-old, who was already locked in for next season, agreed to terms on Tuesday, with the new deal set to take his tenure through until at least the end of 2029.
JACOB van Rooyen has secured his future as a Demon, putting pen to paper on a four-year contract extension with the club.
It follows an impressive three years for the key forward, achieving a VFL premiership in his first season at the club, and consistent opportunities at senior level.
Melbourne List Manager Tim Lamb said it was a significant signing for all who proudly belong to the red and blue.
It’s tremendously fantastic to have Jacob commit to the team for a further four years, Lamb added.
Jacob has put a lot of effort into his work since joining the club, and his positive outlook and desire to learn new things never cease to amaze us.
At just 21 years old, he has an exciting future ahead of him and is a much-loved character among our members and supporters as well as within the club.
“We anticipate hearing the ‘Roo’ chant around the MCG for many more years to come. We have seen the impact Jacob can have at the AFL level.”
Van Rooyen, who stands 194 cm tall, won the Best Young Player title at the club’s Best and Fairest last year.
Van Rooyen, a native of Perth, was selected with pick No. 19 in the 2021 National Draft and later became a Demon.
