A-Leagues cult hero returns to Melbourne Victory after 4 years away..

After spending the previous four seasons playing in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait, the former Ajax midfielder is back in the A-League.

Bonevacia excelled for Western Sydney and Wellington before moving to Al-Faisaly from the Wanderers in 2019.

The 32-year-old, a graduate of Ajax’s illustrious academy, joins Victory, still undefeated, from Kuwaiti team Al-Tadamon.

The 17-time Curacao international Bonevacia stated, “It’s great to be back in the A-League and playing for a club like Melbourne Victory and I can’t wait to get started.”

The team has performed incredibly well this season, and as we head into the finals, I hope to be able to help them achieve even more success.

In five seasons, Bonevacia made 125 appearances in the A-Leagues during his previous stint.

In 2016, the former Netherlands U17 and U19 international was also selected to the PFA A-League Men’s Team of the Season.

Head coach Tony Popovic of Victory said, “We’re thrilled to have a quality player like Roly join us for the rest of the season and we have no doubt that he will make a positive impact this campaign.”

“We feel that Roy’s qualities will enhance our current midfield. He is a versatile midfielder with strong assets in both attack and defence.”
