The night’s total attendance was 36,422. Fans from both groups raised their voices, although Boro fans were heard singing what has been called a “strange” slogan.
As he belted out the away end, TEAMtalk reporter James Marshment wrote on X: “Michael Carrick, he’s won more than you.”
The Boro people are strange because he won exactly zero of those trophies with them.

Following their loss to Leeds, the Championship table presents a somewhat bleak picture for Middlesbrough.
Despite having played 20 games this season, Boro is now in sixth place, ten points behind Leeds United.
Carrick made a Premier League claim regarding Leeds United following the loss, but the Boro manager remained polite in the face of defeat.
“They’re a good team with a lot of Premier League players in there,” he remarked, after describing Leeds’ “Premier League set-up.”
