Manchester United insisted on having Southampton and Middlesbrough target Amad Diallo’s salary covered in full for any loan departure this month, according to journalist Alan Nixon.
Several Championship sides have shown an interest in snapping up the Ivory Coast winger on loan from Manchester United this month.
His performances on loan at Sunderland last season are still fresh in the mind and he is a player in demand in the second tier of English football.
Middlesbrough made a lucrative loan offer and even Southampton are interested but Amad is set to stay at Manchester United for the rest of the season.
It has been claimed that Manchester United wanted the full wage of Amad covering in any loan.
The Premier League giants are aware of the player’s stock in the Championship and did not want to subsidise his wages.
While they paid part of his salary when Sunderland got him last season, this time around they wanted full wage coverage.
It seems none of his suitors were prepared to bear his full salary in order to sign Amad in the winter window.
