Michael Carrick has bold response to Middlesbrough sack claims after four losses

As a football manager, Michael Carrick is well aware of the pressure that comes with his profession.

Manchester United supporters still admire Michael Carrick, who was a vital member of Sir Alex Ferguson’s midfield at Old Trafford.

After playing for Ferguson, Carrick was one of many players who switched to management. He also served as United’s interim manager for a short time in 2021, but halfway through the 2022–2023 season, he was hired on as Middlesbrough’s permanent manager.

Carrick had a great start as Boro moved them up from 21st to fourth place in the standings. Although they missed the playoffs by a slim margin the previous season, it was thought that the groundwork was being set for future promotions.

But this season, things haven’t gone as planned, and Carrick has been under pressure. At this pace, Boro will have a difficult time getting promoted to the Premier League.

Michael Carrick hits back at sack rumours

Questions are bound to be asked in football when you lose four matches in a row.

United fans know that because Ruben Amorim hasn’t been able to win as many matches as he would’ve wanted after landing the biggest job in football back in November.

That is the situation Middlesborough find themselves in, although Carrick is not one asking for sympathy.

However, he has responded to the current allegations that he is being fired by emphasising that he is prepared to start working.

According to Sky Sports, Carrick stated, “It doesn’t change what I do.” “I search for myself in order to continue.

“I don’t mean to belittle the support, but I feel like it doesn’t alter for me this week as it suddenly did. Although I am aware of the circumstances, I have always felt that way.

“Needing reinforcement from anyone doesn’t alter my attitude or the way I approach my work. To be honest, I find that to be rather pitiful.

“I don’t need anyone else to reassure me that everything will be okay since I am the head coach of an amazing football team. I firmly believe in what we’re doing, and I’m here for a purpose. I have complete faith in the group.

“I understand the disappointment and am a little sad, but I’m still incredibly enthusiastic about what’s possible this season. I am fully aware of the circumstances, but I have 14 games left and a lot to play for, so that is my main focus.

Carrick receives vote of confidence

Carrick is the longest-serving manager in the Championship and that looks to remains the case for the foreseeable future.

According to The Sun, Middlesborough have chosen to back Carrick despite a run of four losses in a row.

It is understood that Boro chairman Steve Gibson has decided to stick with the United legend in a ‘huge vote of confidence’.

Carrick appears to have confidence in his ability as a manager to turn things around at the Riverside Stadium.

Middlesborough are currently four points adrift of the play-off spots as they sit 11th in the table.
