Middlesbrough Boss final transfer window decision#

The club won’t make decisions in the last week of the January transfer window that are as hasty and desperate as Michael Carrick describes them.

After losing 6-1 at Stamford Bridge, Boro’s hopes of being the first EFL team to advance to the League Cup final since Bradford City in 2013 were destroyed in the first half when they gave up 4 goals in just 27 minutes. As a team, they are currently moping. Boro, who were also eliminated from the FA Cup, won’t play again until February 4 when they host Sunderland in a Tees-Wear Championship derby.

Boro’s options are mediocre, but their treatment room is not as bad as it once was, and Leeds United loanees Luke Ayling and Sam Greenwood, as well as recent £2.5 million addition Finn Azaz, who are all cup-tied in midweek, are available when they return to league duty.

However, there are serious worries in the last third, as Boro’s lack of firepower appears to be a big problem for them in their play-off quest.

Even though Aston Villa has already had two bids rejected for Morgan Rogers, they aren’t giving up on him.

Any potential sale of Rogers ahead of the window would seriously intensify Boro’s need to bring in some forwards.

On his transfer strategy in the final window week, Carrick said: “It’s definitely don’t panic.

“The worst thing you can do is panic and make rashdecisions.

“There are times when you have to make decisions quickly because they are thrown at you. However, we make an effort to organise things and put ourselves in a position to avoid making snap decisions.

It depends on what appears and what we’re examining.

This time of year, there’s a lot to read.

“I have no reason to believe anything other than that Morgan is our player right now,” Carrickadded.
