Middlesbrough contract gives Blackburn and Millwall cheaper alternative to Leeds United target: View

As the time remaining in the window runs down, pressure will inevitably increase on those clubs to complete those signings, and make the adjustments to their squads they need to.

Consequently, it seems as though plans are now being put in place for some significant moves to be made by certain teams that might not otherwise have been expected to do so.

Indeed, it seems as though two clubs who could be set to make an attempt to make such a move before the window closes on February 1st, are Blackburn Rovers and Millwall.

Leeds United defender being eyed by Blackburn and Millwall
Journalist Alan Nixon claims that Millwall and Blackburn Rovers are interested in acquiring Charlie Cresswell, a defender for Leeds United.

Both of the Championship teams lack options in the middle of defence, and although Rovers have given up more goals than any other team in the league, Millwall supporters are familiar with Cresswell from his loan stint at The Den the previous campaign.

Because of this, the 21-year-old appears to have the makings of a desirable target for the second-tier pair.

There may be a case made, though, that those two teams should now focus on a more suitable center-back choice from the Championship given the current situation.

Blackburn and Millwall should be interested in Middlesbrough’s contract call.

When Paddy McNair’s current contract ends this summer, Middlesbrough has opted not to give him a new one, according to latest reports from The Northern Echo.

As a result, one could argue that in this kind of circumstance, McNair should be considered by Blackburn and Millwall as a potential replacement for Cresswell.

According to Nixon’s report, Leeds hopes to get over £4 million for the sale of Cresswell, which is a high price for a Championship team.
