On Saturday, OXFORD United will host Middlesbrough at Grenoble Road, marking their return from the November international break.
The Boro, captained by former England and Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick, are currently in seventh place in the Sky Bet Championship and one point outside of the playoffs.
Six important players were selected to watch this weekend.
After a good loan stint in the second half of the previous season, the 33-year-old defender became a free agent and joined Boro.
He played for Bristol City and Yeovil Town before joining Leeds United in August 2016 and staying at Elland Road for eight years.
Ayling played 93 times for the Whites in the Premier League and scored 11 goals in 268 games.
Hackney, Hayden
Born into the Boro academy, the England Under-21 international midfielder made his debut for the first squad in January 2021.
He has made 83 appearances for Boro overall, including spending the 2021–2022 season on loan at Scunthorpe United in League Two.
While playing for the England Under-21s this week, Hackney sustained an injury that has not yet been identified. He returned to Boro early, and it is unknown if he will be able to play this weekend.
Azaz, Finn
Azaz has five assists so far this season in the Championship, more than any other player.
After starting his career at West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa, the 24-year-old Republic of Ireland midfield playmaker gained significant notice during two loan stints at Plymouth Argyle.
He joined Boro from Villa on a permanent deal in January, and has since scored seven goals in 35 Championship games.
Ben Doak
The 19-year-old Scottish winger on loan from Liverpool is making a name for himself at Boro.
He made 10 first team appearances for Liverpool prior to joining Boro on loan at the end of August, and has received plaudits for his exciting wing play this season.
He impressed for Scotland in their wins against Croatia and Poland during the recent international break.
