Parlour issues claim over Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough future…

Football Transfers reports that Carrick is a target for Palace. They think the Eagles might be interested in attracting the former Manchester United midfielder at the end of the current campaign, since the team may be looking to replace Roy Hodgson, who is 76 years old, at the end of the 2023–2024 season.

Boro was put under intense national sporting scrutiny in the last three weeks as they played two exhibition matches against Premier League teams before going back to play in the lower divisions.

Days after a hard battle against European contenders Aston Villa, which they only lost 1-0 in the end, Boro were worthy winners over Chelsea in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final on Saturday before departing South London with all three points in a 3-1 triumph against Millwall.

Carrick has received a lot of praise for his efforts in turning Boro around over the past year or so, even if his team has spent the duration of the season outside of the play-off spots. This is evident from the claims that Palace is keeping an eye on him as a potential transfer target.

Boro finished the previous season with 75 points, and many players benefited from Carrick’s more possession- and attack-focused style of play. Chris Wilder had been replaced. After 16 games in the Championship the previous season, he took over as Middlesbrough, having fired Wilder, was sitting in 21st place with 17 points.

They ultimately lost in the play-offs, and Carrick’s revamped team is hoping to improve this year. After placing fourth in the previous campaign, promotion is the team’s main objective.

However, this season got off to a poor start. However, as we approach the end of January, things are looking well. Despite the squad still being crippled by several injuries, they have improved recently and are now in 10th place, one point outside of the playoffs.

Michael Carrick’s judgement by Ray Parlour

Considering that Boro’s current manager is reportedly a top target for Palace, Ray Parlour thinks Carrick should play for his old team, where he played 60 games from 2004 to 2007.

Middlesbrough over Crystal Palace

Managers can grow in the appropriate atmosphere, just like players can, and Carrick is largely succeeding at Boro.

His team has performed admirably under the circumstances, despite their injury troubles, thus the league standings doesn’t always reflect the complete picture.

Given that Carrick is currently one of the top young English coaches, Crystal Palace’s interest is not surprising. He frequently makes aggressive adjustments mid-game to counter the opposition because of his inventive and adaptable tactical style.

They also offer Carrick an intriguing possibility, but as Parlour suggests, it is not one to be considered until he and Boro know which league they will play in next season.
