Body identified after car collision in Middleton

According to police, two men have been taken into custody following the death of a pedestrian in a hit-and-run accident in Leeds.
At roughly 21:40 BST on Friday, a blue Volkswagen Golf R struck the 35-year-old woman in Thorpe Lane, Middleton, near the intersection with Redbarn Close.
According to West Yorkshire Police, the car was headed towards Robin Hood when it failed to stop at the scene and was discovered abandoned on Saturday.
Since then, two men have been taken into custody: a 29-year-old man for allegedly causing death by reckless driving, and a 31-year-old man for allegedly helping an offender. The two men are still being held.

The dashcam footage of the car, which sustained damage in the collision, has been made available to investigators by the police, who are urging witnesses to come forward.

The 35-year-old pedestrian Michaela Fowles was identified as the victim of a crash in Leeds.
According to police, Ms. Fowles was involved in an accident with a blue VW Golf R on Friday at roughly 21:40 BST in Thorpe Lane, Middleton.


Reece Lawrence, 29, of Leeds’ Raylands Way, is accused of driving recklessly and failing to stop, which resulted in death.
He was remanded in custody after his Monday appearance at Leeds Magistrates’ Court until his July 29 appearance at Leeds Crown Court.

Ms. Fowles’s family called her a “beautiful daughter, sister, and mum” in a statement.
“She is and will always hold a special place in our hearts. “Sleep tight, my dear,” they continued.
