A man was’set upon’ and stabbed in a ‘targeted attack’ after a crash in Middleton, according to the Manchester Evening News, and police are still looking for the knifeman.
At approximately 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday August 5, police and paramedics hurried to the scene of the collision on Rochdale Road. Crews discovered a man who had been stabbed and had to be taken to the hospital right away.
The victim, who was seriously injured in the attack, is still fighting for his life. Overnight, the main road was blocked off while forensics investigators worked.
As far as the Manchester Evening News is aware, the victim was “set upon” following the collision, and the police are investigating the event as a “targeted attack.”
The suspects are still at large, and an investigation is still underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
Witnesses stated that the victim was being “chased” by the other vehicle in his car when the collision occurred. Shocked neighbours hurried to assist after witnessing the stabbing.
A local, who wished to remain anonymous, stated: “My friend ran outside when she heard the crash. Before the police arrived, they were hurling sheets and towels at him to stop the bleeding.
“The black car crashed and he [the driver] tried running away, and then, from the white Golf that was chasing him, someone got out and did what they did to him.”
While investigations were conducted, Rochdale Road was taped off close to the intersection with Hollin Lane late on Monday night. Images provided to the Manchester Evening News showed police personnel at work at the attack scene, where a sizable cordon was in place.
A black automobile that appeared to have collided with some metal railings was also seen damaged at the scene.
An official from the GMP stated: “We were notified of an initial traffic collision at approximately 8:30 p.m. tonight on Rochdale Road in Middleton, Rochdale.
“A man suffering from what appear to be potentially fatal stabbing wounds was discovered by officers upon their arrival. He is presently undergoing medical attention.” While detectives continue their investigation, a scene is still in place.”
