Teenager hit by car as police close main road after ‘serious’ crash in Middleton

According to reports, an automobile struck a teenager on an Oldham main street on Tuesday night (july 23). The’serious’ crash at the roundabout, which happened at the busy intersection of Rochdale Road, King Street, and Middleton Road, prompted emergency services to storm the scene.

After the collision, the roundabout outside Oldham Leisure Centre and the road were taped off. The teenage boy, who is believed to have been a pedestrian, was hit at approximately 8:00 p.m.

From the scene, he was hurried to the hospital. Greater Manchester Police have not released any additional information regarding his condition, but the Serious Collision Investigation Unit is believed to be in charge of the investigation.

Numerous police cars can be seen in the photos taken at the scene, and King Street’s adjacent area has also been taped off. There were also photos of a black BMW inside the cordon.

The pedestrian was struck “while crossing the road,” according to a witness who was working nearby, and moments later, emergency personnel flooded the scene.

On Tuesday, July 23, at approximately 2:45 p.m., emergency personnel arrived on Wilbraham Road at the intersection with Lloyd Street South in response to reports of a serious collision involving a bike and a car.

Locals gasped as they saw the 18-year-old biker receive on-site medical attention from paramedics before being taken to the hospital.

Since then, Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that the teenager is still receiving treatment in a hospital after suffering severe, potentially fatal injuries.

A number of hours on Tuesday, the main road was blocked off while investigations were underway. While serious collision investigators conducted their investigations, evidence markers were positioned on the road.

The Audi Q2 is seen in dramatic photos taken at the scene, parked in the middle of the road with blood and debris all around it. As investigations continued late into the evening, a number of police cars kept watch over the cordon.

“We are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to a young rider suffering serious injury since the incident yesterday,” stated Detective Constable Rachael Stafford of the GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU).
