- Millwall faces a critical January transfer window as they navigate a Championship relegation battle.
- Several Millwall players, including Bartosz Bialkowski and Tom Bradshaw, have contracts expiring this season.
- The club must make decisions on whether to offer new contracts or risk losing players to pre-contract agreements with clubs abroad.
- For those who support Millwall, the January transfer window will undoubtedly be crucial.
The Lions are in the midst of a Championship relegation battle, so they need to make sure their summer business is going well. Otherwise, they risk having a squad that isn’t good enough to finish out of the bottom three in the upcoming months.
- Players whose contracts expire at the end of this season will have the option to sign pre-contract agreements to join clubs outside of England on a free transfer in the summer starting in January, which presents another problem for those at The Den.
In light of this, we’ve looked at five current Millwall players who may agree to a pre-contract arrangement with foreign teams as early as next month, right here.
- In the summer of 2019, Bialkowski moved on loan from Ipswich to Millwall; in January 2020, he made the move permanent.
Since then, the Pole has played at The Den as the first- and second-choice goalie, and he has been a consistent presence for the Lions in the Championship this year.
- However, he is due to be out of contract at the end of this season, according to Transfermarkt, and given he will turn 37 before the start of the new campaign, you wonder if he will be offered another one by the club.

Bradshaw had a successful 2022–2023 season with Millwall, though the team just missed out on a spot in the Championship play-offs.
Towards the end of the previous season, the striker was able to secure a new contract at The Den, supposedly keeping him with the team until the summer of 2024.
However, given how difficult it has been for the 31-year-old to duplicate that form this season, there may soon be some doubts about his future with the team.
In summer 2021, Saville made his fourth visit to Millwall, having previously spent two loan periods and one permanent.
The midfield player joined the team for an undisclosed fee after leaving Middlesbrough, and since then, he has made over 100 appearances—more than he did in his three previous stints combined.
Saville’s contract with Millwall is set to expire at the end of this season, according to Transfermarkt, so there’s still a chance he could return to The Den, especially if other clubs show interest in him come January.
After progressing through Millwall’s youth system, McNamara spent a number of seasons on loan at other clubs while he tried to make a name for himself in the starting lineup.
With more than 100 appearances across all competitions, the right-back has become a more consistent member of the Lions senior squad in recent seasons.
However, according to Transfermarkt, McNamara’s contract at The Den is set to expire in the summer, so there’s a chance that he may leave Millwall permanently again in the near future, which could spark some speculation once more.
