Former Birmingham and West Brom defender Paul Robinson leaves Millwall coaching post

By mutual consent, Paul Robinson has resigned as the first-team coach of Millwall.

In July 2021, the former defender for West Brom and Birmingham City became a member of Gary Rowett’s backroom staff.

On Monday, the Lions announced Joe Edwards as their new head coach. To help him, the 37-year-old has brought in Chelsea’s Andy Myers. Edwards has kept Adam Barrett, who was Rowett’s backup coach, on his coaching staff.

“I would like to personally thank Paul for all his incredible hard work and dedication throughout his time at Millwall,” stated Alex Aldridge, director of football operations and recruitment, on the team’s website.

“The players he worked closely with will undoubtedly feel the effects of his work for the remainder of their careers, as well as the staff at Calmont Road.”

“Paul has a lengthy coaching career ahead of him, and we hope the best for him in the times to come.”

“I have really enjoyed working behind the scenes with a very special group of players and staff at Millwall,” Robinson continued.

There’s no denying that both on and off the pitch, progress has been made. Together, we accomplished some amazing things.

“I hope the club and the new management team have many more years of success.”
