‘He’s done an incredible job’ – Millwall boss on Kieran McKenna and Ipswich ahead of tonight’s clash at Portman Road

Both clubs are looking to bounce back from weekend defeats and the Lions will likely need to be at their best to get around the Tractor Boys

While applauding Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town team, Joe Edwards is relishing the “challenge” of defeating his longtime friend.

Although they have been friends for a long time, this will be their first time facing off in the dugout as senior team head coaches.

Both Millwall and Ipswich are trying to bounce back from their weekend setbacks. Millwall lost 3-0 at Coventry, while Ipswich unexpectedly suffered their first loss in 13 games when they lost 2-0 on the road at West Bromwich Albion.

However, Millwall hasn’t lost away from home since August, and the Tractor Boys haven’t lost at Portman Road since August either.

Edwards is delighted by Ipswich’s astounding turnaround under McKenna. In less than two years since taking charge in December 2021, he has moved them from League One to second place in the Championship.

The head coach of the Lions said to NewsAtDen, “He’s done an incredible job.” They had a lot of momentum going into League One and improved, so to be fair, moving up to the Championship is a significant step for them.

And to maintain the momentum in the manner that they have, they play excellent offensive football and possess a great deal of speed and intensity. They’ve already scored a respectable number of points, and they’re entertaining to watch.

“As someone I’ve known for a long time, I’m happy for Kieran, but I know that we have a really tough game coming up on Wednesday. However, it’s a challenge we’re eager to resume right away following Saturday’s setback.
